Seminar Series “Memory and Methods: In Search of One’s Origins”
On 30 June and 1 July 2026, the University of Sassari will host the seminar series “Memory and Methods: In Search of One’s Origins”, devoted to documentary sources and research methodologies in historical demography.

The stories of individuals and communities are preserved in documents. Registers, deeds, archives, and historical sources constitute a valuable heritage that, when examined through rigorous methods, allows us to reconstruct individual and collective histories, bringing back to light stories that have often been forgotten.

On 30 June and 1 July 2026, the seminar series “Memory and Methods: In Search of One’s Origins” will take place. The initiative is dedicated to promoting documentary sources and methodologies for historical-demographic and genealogical research.

The programme will take place over two days:

30 June 2026 | 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Seminars on archival sources and innovations in historical-demographic data management, organised in collaboration with the State Archives of Sassari, the Historical Archives of the Municipality of Iglesias, and the Italian Society of Historical Demography (SIDeS).
Venue: State Archives of Sassari, Via Enrico Costa 57 (Former Civil Hospital).

1 July 2026 | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
