New volume SIDeS: Living Conditions and Inequalities, edited by Luca Mocarelli and Giulio Ongaro
The population’s living conditions significantly impact demographic dynamics and have changed over time in relation to processes linked to increasing or decreasing inequality between countries and/or different social classes. Given its complexity and multifaceted nature, the relationship between living conditions and demographic phenomena can be observed from various perspectives. These range from analysing wages and consumption to the correlation between health conditions, mortality, and living standards or between housing patterns, migration processes, and living conditions. Furthermore, the relationship extends to include schooling levels and the methods of measuring inequality. This volume gives voice to these different perspectives, gathering revised and expanded contributions from the SIDeS conference held in Milan in December 2021.
