Call for Abstract: “Health and Care: Forms, Practices, Imaginations”
We are pleased to announce the CfA for the 3rd International Conference of the PhD Candidates of the Doctoral Program in Historical and Philosophical Heritage for Sustainable Innovation (University of Bari Aldo Moro).

The third edition of the International Conference of the PhD Candidates of the Doctoral Program in Historical and Philosophical Heritage for Sustainable Innovation at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, to be held in Bari from 14 to 16 September 2026, focuses on the theme: “Health and Care: Forms, Practices, Imaginaries. Historical and Philosophical Reflections on Public Health.”

The conference aims to foster a transdisciplinary reflection on public health, examining from historical and philosophical perspectives how state, institutional, and community forms have interacted across time and space to define, protect, and at times challenge collective well-being. It seeks to bring these issues into dialogue with contemporary concerns, including tensions between sovereignty and supranational governance, transformations in medicine, ecological crises, the intersections of ethics and the sacred, and the cultural and artistic narratives that shape the collective imagination.

The conference is open to PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scholars who obtained their PhD no more than five years ago. Its primary objective is to encourage dialogue among different disciplinary perspectives and to engage a broad and diverse community of emerging scholars.

Interested PhD candidates and researchers are invited to submit an abstract in PDF format (maximum 500 words) by Sunday, 5 July 2026.
