The 7th Conference of the European Society of Historical Demography will be held in Paris, hosted by INED from September 8 to 11, 2027.
The detailed call for papers can be found in the attached file; you can also view it at https://eshd2027.eshd.eu/ where you will also find the proposal submission form as well as a range of further information.
The conference is open to all themes, approaches, and methods within the fields of historical demography and the history of the family. These may include any key topics such as family systems, family dynamics and individual life courses; marriages and partner selection; networks and alliances; migration and mobility; health and mortality; and fertility and reproductive behaviour. More broadly, we welcome all papers taking an historical perspective to study the effects of changing social, economic, political, institutional, and environmental conditions on demographic behaviour and population dynamics. Papers employing innovative methodologies, comparative analyses, or interdisciplinary perspectives are particularly encouraged.
In addition, the conference will highlight the theme of Automated methods and big data in Historical Population Research, featuring plenary lectures and numerous dedicated sessions.
You may submit individual proposals (limited to one as lead author) or proposals for complete sessions (please consult the instructions in the full call).
Deadline: January 31, 2027!
