We are excited to announce the Call for Papers for the international workshop “How did we lift the burden? Infectious Disease Mortality in the Western and Non-Western World (1800-now)” which will take place from Thursday 28 August 2025 to Friday 29 August 2025, Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
This workshop will explore the historical decline in infectious disease mortality, focusing on both the Western and non-Western worlds. We invite theoretical, empirical, and methodological contributions that address the factors influencing mortality decline, such as public health interventions, socio-economic changes, and epidemiological shifts. The workshop marks the closing of the NWO-funded project Lifting the burden of disease and the farewell/retirement of Professor Angélique Janssens.
