Call for Papers: Special Issue on Mobility and Infrastructural Networks in the Long Run
The journal Ricerche di Storia Economica e Sociale (RiSES) aims to promote new studies on the economic history of mobility and infrastructure through the paradigm of new mobilities.

The “new mobilities paradigm,” introduced by Sheller and Urry, prioritizes movement and mobility over static structures in social analysis. While economic historians have traditionally focused on transport infrastructure and industries, their work often intersects with mobility studies, though they remain underrepresented in the field. This special issue seeks to bridge that gap by inviting interdisciplinary research on the economic history of mobilities, emphasizing infrastructure’s role in shaping movement across different historical periods.
