Call for Papers: Special Issue on Mobility and Infrastructural Networks in the Long Run

The “new mobilities paradigm,” introduced by Sheller and Urry, prioritizes movement and mobility over static structures in social analysis. While economic historians have traditionally focused on transport infrastructure and industries, their work often intersects with mobility studies, though they remain underrepresented in the field. This special issue seeks to bridge that gap by inviting interdisciplinary research on the economic history of mobilities, emphasizing infrastructure’s role in shaping movement across different historical periods.
Abstracts (maximum one-page) must be submitted by May 30, 2025. By June 15, 2025, the Editorial Committee will select the most promising contributions and invite authors to submit their full papers by November 30, 2025. Reviews will be sent to authors by March 1, 2026, and the deadline for submitting the revised paper is June 30, 2026.
Accepted articles will be published on September 1, 2026.
