On April 5, 2025, at 3:15 PM in Varallo in Valsesia, in the conference hall of Palazzo d’Adda, the event La Valsesia e le Alpi will take place. During this meeting, three publications will be presented, the result of initiatives by the Varallo Section of the Italian Alpine Club, in collaboration with various other institutions and scientific organizations, including SIDeS.
In particular, the double monographic issue of «Popolazione e Storia» Emigrazioni e mobilità di sostituzione nelle valli alpine in età moderna e contemporanea, edited by Pier Paolo Viazzo, Roberto Fantoni, and Claudio Lorenzini (2023), will be presented. The issue dedicated to the Early modern period is available at this link; the one dedicated to the contemporary period is available here. Discussing this work will be Roberto Leggero, researcher at the Laboratorio di Storia delle Alpi (Mendrisio).
Alongside this publication, the volume Valli unite da colli, edited by Paolo de Vingo, Riccardo Cerri, and Roberto Fantoni (All’Insegna del Giglio, 2024), and the latest issue of «Histoire des Alpes / Storia delle Alpi / Geschichte der Alpen» (29, 2024): Foires, marchés et marchands / Fiere, mercati e mercanti / Messen, Märkte und Händler, edited by Andrea Bonoldi, Roberto Fantoni, and Roberto Leggero, will also be presented.
